Having participated in the invitation-only competition, Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos was chosen to design the new medical hotel and wellness clinic in the Mexican Caribbean for the renowned brand SHA Wellness Clinic.

The famous SHA Wellness Clinic, with a single site to date in Alicante, Spain, invited leading Mexican and international architecture firms to design the first SHA tourist complex outside of Spain.

The winning proposal by Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos offers a distinctive material expression by inserting the singular health tourism project within an organic architecture that responds both to the guiding concepts of SHA: Wellbeing, Health, and Advanced Medicine, and to the Mexican cultural and culinary values sought.

Developed in respect of the site boundaries, the schematic design for the winning project also invokes a metaphor of the human genome (DNA) in its form and layout. Within the final volume, it accommodates the residences, spa, and hotel in a linear manner, while taking best advantage of the views of the Caribbean.
