Opening of Palacio de Hierro Antea
The new branch of El Palacio de Hierro, Mexico's luxury department store, opens its doors in the Antea Shopping Mall.
On October 3, 2015, El Palacio de Hierro opened its doors for the first time in Querétaro. Located at the northern end of the Antea Lifestyle Center as one of its key anchor stores, the luxury department store covers 24,500 m2 over 3 floors, offering over 200 brands. During the opening party, guests could explore the interior of the store, where the classic ribbon-cutting ceremony was held. The state governor, José Calzada Rovirosa, was present together with the municipal president of Querétaro, Roberto Loyola Vera, the heads of the Palacio de Hierro, the Bailleres family, together with the Sordo Madaleno family who were responsible for the design of the façade as well as the Antea Lifestyle Center itself. The concept of the façade seeks to break with the classic form of the department store. The citizens of Queretaro have welcomed this project, which has become a new icon in the city and acquired the popular name “the great book” due to its resemblance to the leaves of an open book.
