Javier SMB presents a lecture and receives an honorary fellowship at the American Institute of Architects
At the AIA Conference on Architecture, the president of Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos took part in the activities at the largest and most important architecture event in the United States.
Following the announcement in January 2017 that he was to be named an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects (AIA), Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas was invited to deliver a lecture alongside three new honorary members from different countries: Mario Cucinella, Bruno Stagno and Stein Halvorsen.
This joint session was held at the AIA Conference on Architecture, hosted at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando (Florida), and was intended to present each of the speakers’ careers and works to the audience.
On April 28, the investiture ceremony was held, at which Sordo Madaleno officially received the title of Honorary Fellow of the AIA, joining the prestigious group of foreign architects recognized by the institution on the basis of the significant contribution they have made to the profession and to society through their lives and careers.
The international architects receiving the title of Honorary Fellow this year included Mario Cucinella from Italy, Stein Halvorsen from Norway, Bruno Stagno and José Luis Salinas from Costa Rica, Giancarlo Mazzanti from Colombia, Bong-Seok Oh from South Korea, Ishtiaque Zahir from Bangladesh and Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas, president of SMA.
