With the intention of recognizing those who have contributed valuable works and significant actions in the benefit of the city, the nation, or mankind, the Legislative Assembly of Mexico City decorates the most outstanding citizens and groups in different fields of the exact sciences and of culture.
The Legislative Assembly of Mexico City awarded the Medal for Merit in Arts and Sciences 2016, in the Architecture category, to Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas, president of Grupo Sordo Madaleno, for his “valuable contributions in benefit of the Arts and as a show of our gratitude on the part of the city’s residents,” as described in the award.
This public recognition has been granted to outstanding citizens in the scientific branches of Neuroscience, Dissemination, Biotechnology, Medical Sciences, Aerospace Innovation; and in the artistic branches of Literature, Visual Arts, Creation and Interpretation of Arts, Music and Architecture.
According to the call for submissions, those who receive the award in the field of arts are those who, through their creative work and career, have stood out in the production of works and made significant contributions, as well as those who have enriched cultural heritage, enhancing or disseminating the cultural values of Mexico City or the country, and, in general, contributed to the advancement of aesthetic activities.
This year, the architect Sordo Madaleno shares the Medal with the esteemed Teodoro González de León, in posthumous recognition for his transcendent work and career in Mexico City.
“I am hugely grateful for this recognition, it is an honor to be able to contribute to the development of the country and the city through architecture,” commented Javier Sordo Madaleno at the awards ceremony.http://www.aldf.gob.mx/comsoc-aldf-otorg[ ... ]016--31555.html
