SMA wins best overall project at IIDA Latam

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) announced Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos as the winner across all categories in “2016 Best Interiors of Latin America & the Caribbean”

The award ceremony for the “IIDA Best Interiors of Latin America & the Caribbean Competition” was held last May 11 in the city of Miami, Florida, at which Sordo Madaleno was announced as the winner of the competition for the interiors of its Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen hotel.

Cheryl S. Durst, Executive Vice President and CEO of IIDA presented the prize and described the spa of the hotel as a modern design with an intimate and welcoming atmosphere.

Grand Hyatt Playa del Carmen was also winner in the “Spas, Fitness Centers and Gymnasiums” category for its use of organic elements, rich materials and the sensation of tranquility it conveys in such an exuberant context.

The two prizes were received by the architect Nadia Borrás, Director of Interior Design at Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos, who was in charge of the interior design for the winning project.
