Antara Corporate Building II occupies a 48,578 sqm site located on Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra street in the Granada neighborhood, known as the new Polanco. CAI and CAII comprise two of the three office buildings on the master plan begun with the Antara Fashion Hall, which opened in 2006.
The full project comprised 10 levels of underground parking, an office reception area at ground level, a service level, 15 floors of corporate offices and a machine room, giving a total floor area of approximately 66,000 square meters.
One of the most significant challenges in the construction of CAII was the foundations for the Antara Fashion Hall and the spiral ramps that descend to the parking levels of Antara Corporate Building I. To achieve this a system of 1,580 anchors of different lengths was employed in order to stabilize the perimeter earth banks.
For the foundation, isolated footings for columns and combined footings for perimeter walls were used, both formed from reinforced concrete. The general structure comprises solid slabs supported on reinforced concrete beams and columns.
The masonry work comprises dividing walls formed from hollow blocks and reinforced concrete beams and columns. The façades employ pre-cast columns and skirts with natural matte aluminum frames and insulated glass.
The intention was to meet specific sustainable construction criteria, and Antara Corporate Building II is under evaluation for gold LEED certification by the U.S. Green Building Council.
