11th SMA Internal Competition
Winner proposal by Adrián Aguilar y Jaime Sol

For the eleventh time, the traditional internal Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos' competition was held, an initiative to reward creativity and innovation in design among our staff.

On this occasion, the theme of the competition was temporary urban and architectural interventions in a disused space, located in Mexico City. Following the jury’s decision, the winners of the 11th Internal Competition are:

Third place went to Jorge Gerini, who introduced a project that takes advantage of the unique conditions of the terrain to include a sunken park, through the creation of platforms with different economic scenarios.

Second place was awarded to the team comprised of Fernanda Patiño, Víctor Rivera, and Regina Jarque, who involved the concept of the ephemeral urban in a comprehensive proposal that inserts temporary water bodies with urban activities into a plaza that expands into the immediate territory of the project.

The winners in first place are Adrián Aguilar and Jaime Sol, who presented an experimental proposal rooted in the concept of a “Floating Forest,” in which the principal structure provides a green roof for a new urban plaza at street level, while the plaza enables the addition of a retail space in a subterranean area.
