Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos collaborates with República Sin Fronteras
Republic of Fritz Hansen and IHO Espacios invited 20 leading Mexican creatives to intervene in the iconic Series 7 chair by Arne Jacobsen, for República Sin Fronteras. Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos was one of those invited, and created an original and playful piece of furniture.
The humanitarian project República Sin Fronteras took up the theme: “The importance of integration in provoking change” and invited a group of designers to intervene in the chairs with their own vision of how to go about creating real transformation in an ideal, borderless world.
Nadia Borrás and Enrique Ralph, Directors of Interior Design at SMA, led the intervention with the playful design of a double see-saw, including four original Series 7 chairs in the completed piece of furniture. The creative process behind SMA’s intervention, she explained, “touches on the theme of never stopping being children, of always allowing a playful aspect, even when we are creating ideas.”
The final pieces will be auctioned in September 2017 at the Universidad Centro with proceeds going to Fundación Construyendo, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to eradicate extreme poverty through the construction of spaces to facilitate human development in Mexico.https://www.facebook.com/RepublicaSinFronteras/
