Sordo Madaleno Arquitectos was founded in 1937 by the renowned Mexican architect Juan Sordo Madaleno (1916-1985), whose style spread and won recognition throughout the world as defining “Modern Mexican Architecture.” He worked with other well-known studios from the period, including Luis Barragán, José Villagrán García, Augusto H. Álvarez, Ricardo Legorreta, Francisco Serrano and José A. Wiechers.

In 1982 Javier Sordo Madaleno Bringas (Mexico City, 1956) took over the firm set up by his father and instigated an exponential expansion in projects of all kinds, with a constant focus on improving urban conditions and benefiting the user. In Javier 2008 created Grupo Sordo Madaleno, and is currently President of the Board. Although Sordo Madaleno had been working in the real estate business for over 50 years, it was only with the creation of the Group that the Real Estate department became established as a separate entity.

In 2010 Javier Sordo Madaleno de Haro (son of Javier SM Bringas) takes over as Architecture Director with the responsibility for all the architectural projects that are developed in the office with 200 specialists.
